Fall, you make me smile

It’s small changes that let us know fall is here, but I don’t know of anyone whose senses don’t perk up to notice. My favorite part of the year isn’t pumpkin everything or cozy blankets. What I love the most is that feeling in the air that’s like my own personal time capsule. My husband and I started dating in October. A year later we got married in November. I get that giddy, girly, special feeling like it’s all brand new again when fall comes around (not that we’ve been married that long!).

Holding his hand is better when the air is crisp and the sky is moody. It makes me want to recreate weird little things from when we were dating. Like yesterday we made chorizo and rice for supper, which is the first thing Nick cooked for me. It’s just a simple, cheap meal of chorizo and rice-a-roni (with cheese added for good measure) but it’s more than a bachelor meal to me. It’s funny because he only made it for me one time, but as soon as we started cooking it this week, I was right back in his old apartment, standing in the kitchen doorway being ridiculously impressed that this guy I really liked was cooking for me. Time capsules, man. One of my favorites.

  1. Oh, I love when things like that bring back good memories. One I can think of for me is the Beatles One album. I listened to it in the fall when I first started working at 17. Good times.

  2. Yeah, music is one of the best memory triggers. Who says time travel hasn't been invented??
